Status Quo

These are God-fearing men
Fear them, for they fear none

The dim sound of their conciousness faded
When fronted the golden statue
We all heard the sound of broken spines
As they bowed down before their divine

These are God-fearing men
Who believe that your faith
The sweat of your brow
And the blood beneath your skin
Can all be spent in vain
If it fulfills the higher purpose of
Maintaining the STATUS QUO.

Chains

I envisioned breathing on a free land you see
But I am here now, and all I see is a prison
And prisoners of love and war
Chained to one another, grotesque and miserable

One pulls himself up by pushing other down
And one falls to the ground taking down the soul chained with him
Marching round and round to tease and please
Play games and often love to preach

They breed in chains, rise in chains
Wrists to wrists and ankles to ankles
They move clunking and groaning
And sometimes they break into a laugh
At themselves and the world they created
A laugh that squeezes a tear out of their dream glazed eyes
When they look back at the world they left behind

A Human

Human
An innocent bystander
A thief
A murderer
A rapist.
An innocent bystander
A lover
A fighter
Human.

Open mind and closed eyes

Overthinking must be a crime
Because once you open your mind
To what is, what can be, what should be
Outlines of reality can be hardly seen

In a state of wonderment you pass your time
Right behind the films of your eyes
A new world is being created inch by inch
Nicking you away from reality, pinch by pinch

Touchable stays untouched
When intangible becomes your crutch
You walk with your head held high
With an open mind and closed eyes
